friskyGeek is the personal web log of Faisal Sultan. I guess what Im most known on the Internet for is friskyRadio.com, which I started back in 2001 and has slowly grown into one of the leading sites for Underground Dance Music on the Internet.

For my ‘Real Job’ I work as a Streaming Media Engineer at a large Internet/New Media Company - responsible for online Radio and Video. I started my career in Streaming Media when I joined Spinner.com back in 1999 - which was the very first online music radio service on the web.

Besides ranting and raving about crap on this blog, I enjoy taking pictures, watching movies, commenting on politics, and listening to music. I also love graphic design and would like to get better at it.

This is actually the 7th version of this web site. When I started this journal back in 2000, it was hosted on the blogger platform. I migrated it to Movable Type back in 2003 - and now this site uses Wordpress. Why Wordpress? Ease of use, great online community that creates kick-ass plugins and most importantly - because Movable Type just sucks.

The first War Crimes trial started in Gitmo Bay this week. Who is on trial you ask? A murderer of thousands? A mastermind of the terrorist attacks? Nope. Its for a fucking driver! They are charging a driver that drove Osama around for War Crimes. Hamdan is no doubt not without some sort of guilt, but War Crimes? Poor guy was just at the wrong place at the wrong time.

This is further proof of how little the Americans know of the culture of that part of the world. Growing up in Pakistan, I had not one but two drivers, as well as a lot of “domestic help.” Every middle-class family does. Did our driver know everything about our family? No. Learning about your “enemy” if more than half the battle, and the American’s cant even get that right.
