99% of the 99% Are Spoilt Brats

October 15th, 2011

99% of the 99% are spoilt hippies that think the world owes them a job and they are entitled to that new car and that new house. Their idea of a protest is doing what they have done all their life: throw a tantrum and demand that their mommys and daddys buy them that new toy or iPad. Sorry, but sitting on a park in New York is not gonna get you that job. They have been given everything on a silver platter by their parents that smothered them all their lives and given them silver stars for coming in second. This frustration is the result of no discipline given to children in American schools. American parents have to share the blame here - they have raised a generation of kids that havent learnt the meaning of hard work, or faced a loss. They continue to tell their kids that they are “special,” that there are no losers, only winners. Grow the fuck up.

They like to compare salaries of bankers vs other jobs. If they want bankers’ salaries they should have gone to business school and become a banker! Im not rich (not by a looooong shot) but do I wish I had a bankers’ salary? No, I dont. If I wanted to slave myself in front of numbers and be miserable all year and not be able to travel the world because Im working all day, I would have become a banker. Its about doing what you love.

Yes things are bad - and not everyone is lucky enough or smart enough to get a scholarship to college. Some, but not most, of the stories on this WeAreThe99% blog are heartbreaking - but living within one’s means is the best way to make sure you dont fall into the trap and become a slave to your bills.

Well said! You are the dream of every capitalist and banker! Keep your head down, don’t fight back, don’t ask for working conditions, rights. Don’t pursue dignity. Don’t speak. Don’t care about politics and society.

Be a sheep. Follow the herd. Don’t mind where it will lead you. Slaughterhouse? Blame it on god’s will. Better luck next time.

Great people are the shepherds. Great people talk about ideas (rather than possession). Great people are never remain reassured. They always seek improvement and leads to drive humanity forward. They want their children to live in a better world.

Personally, I don’t think that the “99%” is a realistic percentage, or that the protesters are all “great people”.

You can choose whether you are a follower/sheep/slave or a leader/shepherd/free. You can choose whether to stay reassured, work your ass off and make a living (or struggle like most people), or you can fight and demand the right to a better life.

PS. This has nothing to do with bankers. Rich bankers don’t deal with numbers. They deal in critical decisions BASED on numbers. Usually, without any regret if people get fucked up in the process.

So when somebody who’s spent their lifetime living within their means, raising their family and making ends meet by working as a teacher gets the sack because the government needs to cut back on public services… that’s their own fault? When more money is spent on defence than is spent on healthcare, that’s alright? When the very people our taxes bailed out get bonuses greater than our average lifetime salary, that’s acceptable?

Sorry - sure there may be a lot of people that are lamenting their own inabilities, but the key here isn’t that people are fighting to get something they don’t deserve, it’s the fact that they are fighting to make sure everybody gets the rights that, as human beings, we should all be entitled to. Healthcare, education, employment. You may be in a great position, you may not have an iphone or an ipad but when it comes down to the crunch every penny in tax you pay is not representing you. It’s not representing your family, your friends, your fellow citizens.

This isn’t about you, it’s about everyone.

What will you do when you get old or if you get sick? What will you do when you go to use the social security funds you are forced to put away your entire life are gone because the government had to use them to bail out the banks? It’s not a matter of being a banker or not, it’s a matter of making those who have direct control over resources we all share not squander them for their own greed.

A pair of scientists looked at the rate at which the complexity of life increases and then extrapolated back to a point of zero complexity. Its around 10 billion years. Turns out life might be even older than Earth itself.

However, if life takes 10 billion years to evolve to the level of complexity associated with humans, then we may be among the first, if not the first, intelligent civilisation in our galaxy. And this is the reason why when we gaze into space, we do not yet see signs of other intelligent species.

The White House was completely gutted and refurbished in 1950. Great photo essay!

Experts called the third floor of the White House “an outstanding example of a firetrap.” The result of a federally commissioned report found the mansion’s plumbing “makeshift and unsanitary,” while “the structural deterioration [was] in ‘appalling degree,’ and threatening complete collapse.” The congressional commission on the matter was considering the option of abandoning the structure altogether in favor of a built-from-scratch mansion, but President Truman lobbied for the restoration.

The area looked different than where we trained because we’re in Pakistan now. There are the lights, the city. There’s a golf course. And we’re, This is some serious Navy SEAL shit we’re going to do. This is so badass. My foot hit the ground and I was still running [the Bush quote] in my head. I don’t care if I die right now. This is so awesome. There was concern, but no fear.

An extra-ordinary piece of journalism in the March issue of esquire on the man that pulled the trigger on Bin Laden. This is riveting, must-read!

Imagine at some point that you go to the doctor for a physical, they do a blood draw but also a cheek swab and a few days later, you get a link to a site that shows you everything that is right and wrong with you, and can then help figure out how to make things better. Syapse is trying to do just that. Sign me up!

So while Obama was telling the world that “a decade of war is ending” and that “all souls on Earth shall have equal access to happiness” he was busy waging war and killing… Esquire takes a look at Obama’s double standards on war and how he is the first president in history to target individuals with no regard for the rule of law and UN conventions.

Sure, we as a nation have always killed people. A lot of people. But no president has ever waged war by killing enemies one by one, targeting them individually for execution, wherever they are. The Obama administration has taken pains to tell us, over and over again, that they are careful, scrupulous of our laws, and determined to avoid the loss of collateral, innocent lives. They’re careful because when it comes to waging war on individuals, the distinction between war and murder becomes a fine one. Especially when, on occasion, the individuals we target are Americans and when, in one instance, the collateral damage was an American boy.

Lets not kid ourselves here. The problem isnt Obama, or Bush, or even a “President Romney.” The problem is American society and economy that lives and thrives on war and killing.

A great lesson for those of you who want to learn more about how focal length affects your subjects and perception in photography. Ive always found the “sweet spot” to be around 5 feet and 35mm, but of course it all depends on the subject and the environment. But anything less than 35mm will make your subjects look weird.

How come I never thought of this: In the future, we will all get our mail and packages from drones. The author explains it thusly:

Here’s a simplified version of what I’m talking about:

I put package onto a landing pad at my home.
Drone arrives, takes package and flies away.
Drone delivers package to landing pad at delivery location.

Great idea, and I do think this can / will happen probably within the next 25 years. With the advent of self-driving cars, there’s nothing stopping UPS to deliver mail using those self-driving vehicles, or drones.
