You know the PC vs. Mac ads? Well, George Lucas is a PC and James Cameron is a MAC. No other director in our age brings the magic back into moves quite like James Cameron. While George Lucas gives us Jar Jar Blinks, James Cameron gives us an entire new world thats truely epic in every sense of the world. James Cameron redefined the sci-fi genre with Aliens, brought the world to an end in Terminator, brought us an love story in a romantic unsinkable ship in Titanic and now he’s conquered the fantasy genre in Avatar.

Visually - Avatar is flawless. And I mean flawless. No detail, no matter how big or small has been overlooked. Its stunning to the n-th degree. As my initial reaction was right after I got out of the IMAX 3D theater last night: Its as if the visuals on screen are making sweet love with your eyes. I firmly believe James Cameron has redefined the sci-fi and fantasy genre with this movie. After this, audiences will demand more from directors and nothing short of brilliant will ever come close to the spectacle of this movie. The 3D rendering is perfect and not overused - the subtle touches of the third dimension add life to characters like no other. James Cameron knows exactly what he was doing here.

Avatar is not without its faults. The story takes huge leaps and liberties and is full of corny dialogue … But the premise is simple: Humans: Greedy and bad, bent on destroying native peoples of a far-away planet for their resources. But the story is secondary and it wasnt bad enough for me to deduct any points from my star rating. If I were to start nit-picking, Id be giving away the plot, which I dont want to do here.

Go see this movie. But only see it the way it was intended: In a huge IMAX 3D screen. Trust me on this one.

I watched a screener of this movie!!! I have messed up the greatest visual treat for myself and now I believe I will live a half life as a movie buff who missed out on something sensational, stupendous, marvelous (and all those great words combined and still would not come close to how I would describe this movie). I can now only wonder the experience those of you had or will have when you watch it on an IMAX 3D screen. Live happy lives all of you and give thanks for the little things in life if you do watch it on IMAX 3D. If you don’t, well you do not have what it takes to be a fan of the visual media.

I noticed a small flaw: All the photographs and screens were also in 3D, ie. they acted like windows, not flat projections. :)

The Kardashian mentions how much attention is paid, not how much attention is deserved, so naming the unit after someone who is famous for being famous seems appropriate.

Brilliant. Ethan Zuckerman proposes measuring attention with a unit of measure called a Kardashian.

Excellent post about how Twitter in the end will be the big winner rather than Facebook.

Slow and steady always wins the race. Always. Its what I believe in when it comes to FRISKY and in everything else I try to do.

Watch the trailer for JJ Abrams’ new TV show Revolution. Looks good but then so did Alcatraz, which turned out to be a dud. Lets hope this lives up to the hype.

RIP so-called Social Readers. The Facebook Social Reader is the worst piece of crap ever. You click on an article your friend supposedly read and instead of taking you to the story, it takes you to an app. Thats when I closed the app and never went to the story. I wasnt the only one.

Fascinating story of American Airlines’ AAirPass - an all-you-can-fly elite program that you can purchase for $350,000. Considering how much you can travel (unlimited, first class), I think $350K is a great deal if you have the money. And time I guess.

The San Pelligrino 50 Best Restaurants in the World list is better than the Michelin list, and their 2012 ratings are right on. Per Se at 6 and not surprisingly Eleven Madison Park jumps from 24 to 10! It is that good. I expect it to be in the Top 5 next year for sure. Another one to watch out for next year: Atera in New York.
