On Being Interviewed

July 2nd, 2009

If youve been following me and my photographic exploits then you might have noticed that Ive been interviewed twice in the span of a month. While its incredible, I went into these with a lot of hesitation and almost-trepidation. Im a fairly private person and dont like to talk too much about “Faisal Sultan” the person. Further, I really dont feel that I have reached any where near the level and potential in my photography to warrant people wanting to talk to me about my “art” or “work.” Needless to say, its incredibly humbling, and I will admit, rewarding and very very exciting! I just hope that I can continue to live up to the “hype” and continue to grow in my photography.

Thanks to Petapixel and iLovethatphoto for giving me the opportunity to talk about my work and I think I learnt something about myself and my work in the process.

No reason to hide your talent or yourself. I really love your work and experience it as art.

The world would be a worse place without your photos.

Awesome… you’re a star! In a way, I’m glad you take photos just for yourself, to ‘capture the moment.’ At least that way I know that you are very likely to keep on doing it. It seems that you have found your passion, and helped a lot of others like myself, discover what passion is through your brilliant photography!
    Cheers!

Excellent post about how Twitter in the end will be the big winner rather than Facebook.

Slow and steady always wins the race. Always. Its what I believe in when it comes to FRISKY and in everything else I try to do.

Watch the trailer for JJ Abrams’ new TV show Revolution. Looks good but then so did Alcatraz, which turned out to be a dud. Lets hope this lives up to the hype.

Excellent read by Henry Bloget in the New Yorker about how Mark has matured into a kick ass CEO. I couldnt agree more.

RIP so-called Social Readers. The Facebook Social Reader is the worst piece of crap ever. You click on an article your friend supposedly read and instead of taking you to the story, it takes you to an app. Thats when I closed the app and never went to the story. I wasnt the only one.

Fascinating story of American Airlines’ AAirPass - an all-you-can-fly elite program that you can purchase for $350,000. Considering how much you can travel (unlimited, first class), I think $350K is a great deal if you have the money. And time I guess.

The San Pelligrino 50 Best Restaurants in the World list is better than the Michelin list, and their 2012 ratings are right on. Per Se at 6 and not surprisingly Eleven Madison Park jumps from 24 to 10! It is that good. I expect it to be in the Top 5 next year for sure. Another one to watch out for next year: Atera in New York.

Couldnt agree with this more… Apple should buy Foursquare and Square:

To summarize: after the deal, Apple will immediately become a giant payments company, with an installation base that is expected to encompass half of all mobile devices sold. The company will have the best local search abilities, far exceeding any existing recommendation engine. And due to its enormous reach, it will possess a payment system that merchants will line up to support.
