Kings cancelled?

Nooooooo! Looks like KINGS will get canned. I was just finally getting into that show… Its a shame that there are no real dramas left on TV. ER, Battlestar Galactica are done, although I stopped watching ER in 2003 or thereabouts. That leaves us with HOUSE, LOST and the new show Southland - which started last week and I have high hopes for it. I hope it does well.

FUCK NBC, EVERY SHOW I WATCH ON NBC GETS CANCELLED. THEY HAVE NO FAITH IN ANYTHING.

  2. 2 ANGRY TV WATCHER Apr 23rd, 2009 at 7:15 pm

Nbc has really not faith in any show. Every show I watch on NBC is always so good, then they just cancel it. Kings should have debuted on another night to begin with.

FUCK NBC, YOU MOTHER FUCKING CUNT BAGS!

Fuck NBC. I give up on them. They made a good show in Friday Night Lights only to cancel it and then uncancel it and cancel it and uncancel it again. Now they made the best new show on television and they cancel it before it even finishes the first season. REDICULOUS!!! I don’t have time to waste watching a show that they will cancel before the first season is even done yet. I will not watch anymore new shows on NBC. This is the final straw for me.

NBC sucks. Look what they did with Scrubs. That was a very highly rated, award winning, show that they cancelled, brought back, cancelled then sold to ABC who is reaping the profits from it. They are putting their eggs in the basket called “Heroes”, but the story line this season is so twisted and dumb that I doubt I will go out of my way to watch season 4. That will leave NBC with one show I watch, Chuck, if they don’t cancel that in the off season.

Its to bad that anything classy on on tv gets canceled because the lowest denominator doesn’t like it

Maybe NBC can try something that will fit their audience like “America’s next top hooker”

Kings is awesome, I don’t watch much else NBC has (save Law & Order and SVU, way better than any CSI). I’ll be sad if there’s not more of it. Some of these networks are really nuts. Now Sarah Connor is canceled, and Firefly will always be held against Fox. I never watched either, but damn there are a lot of pissed off viewers out there. Life on Mars it gone too. I don’t understand why every show has to rake in 15 million viewers every time in order to EXIST. All the really interesting stuff gets canned. What happened to having saturday/sunday shows like Hercules and Xena? I wish they did something like that with Crusoe instead of killing it, I found it really enjoyable.

Cable networks aren’t exactly awesome either. I don’t think fans will ever forgive Sci Fi (oh yeah.. SyFy now, haha) for axing Farscape. And running a show into the ground for 10 years is just as bad (Stargate, I’m lookin’ at you). Battlestar was the best thing they ever did, and the only thing they ever did right. Quite frankly it was a miracle such an awesome show got it’s proper chance. (Likewise with Lost, which helps me cope with my aching BSG fix).

The show Kings was wonderful. I’m so sorry that it was cancelled! Please some other channel pick this show up it is excellent.

  11. 11 Bill May 22nd, 2009 at 5:02 pm

I’m super disappointed that NBC didn’t give this show more of a chance. What did they show, 5 episodes? I guess that’s what happens to expensive shows, the payoff needs to be instant or bye bye. Would be great if someone else picked it up, but I have low expectations of that happening. Oh, and just to keep in line with the rest of the comments on this page: FUCK NBC!!

I just knew Kings would be cancelled. It’s about the only thing I was really watching and following this season, other than Dancing with the Stars. Very classy show with a sort of big-screen cinematic look to it. A retelling of the Biblical Saul vs. David story in a modern setting. Definitely different but IMO quality TV. There is so much they could have developed in this series but now we’ll never know I suppose. The only thing that gives me hope is remembering that the original Star Trek only lasted a couple of seasons, then was axed. Same thing - it was different, the large gray mass of TV viewers probably did not really get what the writers or Gene Roddenbury were trying to project in the stories - a bit over their heads. The average American seems to like fake cop and doctor shows, sitcoms peppered with cheap one-liners, “reality” shows that in actuality are planned and staged for maximum viewership - stuff like that. Anything remotely intellectual or spiritual in nature is doomed to be cancelled.

    True that.

    NBC you suck!!!

You know, maybe if they didn’t bounce the darn episodes around so much and keep to a schedule for at least one freakin’ season the ratings would have been better, I tried tivo’ing the episodes and I missed them as often as I recorded them because of that B.S., this show didn’t fail NBC, NBC failed the show.

  15. 15 MADDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD Jun 28th, 2009 at 12:52 am

    fuck nbc

1st they cancel life and now this bullshit with kings, wtf!!!!!!!!!!!!
why are americans so damn stooooooopid that every time a show comes on the air that requires you to think just a tinsey winsey bit they change the channel??? whatever happened to shows that where about the show and the story as opposed to the ratings…. and how are people supposed to watch something with no consistency??
you keep movin g the show here and there and take a week off wtf are u stupid?
I work in a High end restaurant in nyc and i’ll tell you that if some 1 comes to your establishment and orders a dish and enjoys , if they come back and order the same dish it better be exactly the fucking same as they had the first time or no 1 will ever come back.. so pick a timeslot for the show and dont change it, Especially after 4 episodes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s not that Kings has low viewership or low critical ratings; NBC has said before that they don’t account for online views in their ratings system, and THAT is the problem. I personally, along with all of my friends and family, watch it on Hulu as soon as it premieres on the web, usually more than once. If they took that into account, all of that ad revenue they’re getting from a family each watching it individually, instead of all on the same television, they’d quickly realize Kings is a very nice little treasure trove as a web-release. That way, Kings still has new episodes, NBC doesn’t have to sacrifice a precious time-slot, and we all get to see just what this can become.

Because we’re such smart viewers who utilize technology to it’s fullest, our sophistication is working against us, NBC turning a blind eye to what matters and clucking angrily about how it’s ‘too smart’ for their viewers.

NBC sucks they never give anything a chance ….what are they gonna replace kings with? another law and order show?

WoW!!!!what the hell is wrong with all the canceling of these shows!man i just got into Kings and watched all the episodes in one day and now i just got done with the last one and realized it was canceled!wtfff!nbc should either move it to a different day or some other company better buy it……..this is really embarrassing.

  20. 20 Fuck NBC Aug 1st, 2009 at 4:55 pm

    Fuck NBC.

    They are fools.

Also don’t watch it on HULU. I will NOT give NBC ANYMORE ad revenue, or revenue of any matter. (NBC owns HULU for those who don’t know) If NBC, by some miracles, puts out anything worth watching that they actually keep around (ie: Chuck) then I will be watching it streaming from one of the hundreds of other perfectly legal to stream from (albeit illegal themselves) websites where they won’t make me watch ads and won’t give NBC any further income.

I also blocked the channel from my TV. I’m sticking to Showtime or HBO as they seem to be the only channels left with any sense.

  21. 21 Informed Viewer Aug 4th, 2009 at 10:21 pm

Wow. Its amazing that an excellently scripted and strongly cast drama is being obliterated by NBC. What is wrong with America when the public will watch trash like America’s got talent and American idol instead of an excellent well-thought out show WITH AN ACTUAL PLOT! I guess Americans are becoming idiots. PLEASE SOMEONE SAVE THIS SHOW. IT WILL BE WORTH YOUR WHILE!

  22. 22 hmmm hulu hater? Aug 7th, 2009 at 7:40 pm

so… to the hulu hatere above…

    fuck off

Sources within NBC have said in confidence that the KINGS show has been canceled from pressure from the religous right. Apparently to these sources well within NBC, the groups which are also share holders don’t like the idea of a vengeful god.

So much for freedom, I guess.
We’re only allowed to watch things that depict god in a pleasant way…
Just like the Iranian’s are not allowed to watch things that depict Islam in a bad way.

  24. 24 replier Jun 15th, 2010 at 6:24 pm

It’s not that the show didn’t have enough viewer, it’s that the producers or whoever did not really advertise the show as much. If they did I can honestly guarantee more viewers and a higher rating. As everyone else said, if NBC only kept the episodes consistent then there would be more viewers. I think they canceled it because they themselves did not like it, and did not think of the fans.
I really did like that show and hope that some other network will take it up and continue it.

Turns out, there were two copies of the Mona Lisa painted on the very same day.

Museum experts are in the process of stripping away a cover of black over-paint which, when fully removed, will reveal the youthfulness of the subject they say. The final area of over-paint will come off in the next few days.

The original “Mona Lisa” hangs in the Louvre but the sitter looks older than her years as the varnish is cracked. The painting is so fragile that restoration or cleaning is deemed too risky. The Prado version, however, will show the sitter as she was: a young woman in her early 20s.

In August of 1865, a Colonel P.H. Anderson of Big Spring, Tennessee, wrote to his former slave, Jourdan Anderson, and requested that he come back to work on his farm. Jourdan — who, since being emancipated, had moved to Ohio, found paid work, and was now supporting his family — responded spectacularly by way of this letter.

A couple of dissenting views on my opinion of the megaupload shutdown:

    Jonathan Coulton:

Along with all the illegal stuff happening on MegaUpload was some amount of completely legal stuff. People used MegaUpload to send large files around. Some number of those files were personal files owned by the people sending them. I have no idea what the ratio was, and probably it would be impossible to figure that out with any certainty, but let’s stipulate that it was a very large percentage of illegal activity, and only a very tiny percentage of the users were there for anything other than downloading content that they didn’t buy. Still, today that tiny percentage had something taken away from them, without warning, maybe just a service they liked using, but maybe a piece of digital media that belonged to them - if they uploaded something and didn’t keep a copy, that thing is now gone.

Julian Sanchez also has a good post about the larger SOPA / PIPA debate.

Thomas Friedman, whom I have had issues with in the past, is spot on in his latest column: The End of Average. In which he argues that workers and companies simply can not survive in this economy by merely being average.

In the past, workers with average skills, doing an average job, could earn an average lifestyle. But, today, average is officially over. Being average just won’t earn you what it used to. It can’t when so many more employers have so much more access to so much more above average cheap foreign labor, cheap robotics, cheap software, cheap automation and cheap genius. Therefore, everyone needs to find their extra — their unique value contribution that makes them stand out in whatever is their field of employment. Average is over.

This is the best news in a long time. When the Feds shut down the scumbag website Meaupload, they seized “Shotguns, a Rolls Royce Phantom and millions of dollars” from the owners. That Rolls Royce Phantom was paid for by me and countless other copyright owners like labels and artists who’s work they illegally shared on their site. These scumbags make money off our content by selling ads around the download links. I cant wait for the same thing to happen to other sites like YouSendIt, WeTransfer and countless others.
