Great news for all peace-loving and moderate muslims. Iran’s former president Mohammad Khatami has ended months of speculation by announcing that he will run in June’s presidential election. Khatami is well respected and liked by the West and is a moderate. When he was in power in the late 90’s and early 00’s - he was the one that reached out to the US and was working hard to normalise relations with them. It will be interesting how he deals with the radicals in order to win. I think his chances of winning are slim, but there’s a lot of this HOPE thing going around these days, so there might be hope yet.
