Dan in Real Life
The Ruins A slasher-type movie, but with brains. I havent read the book even though I wanted to but didnt get around to it. Its like the Decent, but a bit more clever and lot less blood and gore. I liked this one a lot.
21 Awesome film adapted from a true-life story of a gifted MIT student that started counting cards in Blackjack to win hundreds of thousands of dollars. The main character is played brilliantly and perfectly by a newcomer - we will definitely be seeing more of this kid.
Stop-Loss Stop-Loss is a political Anti-Iraq war movie. But its not a movie that makes villians out of Bush or the Administration like so many Iraq movies do. Its about the solider and everything the Army and the country takes out of him, including his humanity and sanity. Thats why this movie is different and thats where it prevails as the closest commentary on the reality of the war.

Love these updates, keeps me updated on what to get from the net.

As for ‘Dan in real life’. Watched it for about 10 minutes, but couldn’t get into it. 21 is high on my anticipation list, still waiting for a good IRAQ war movie as Jarhead and The Kingdom where utterly shite!!

Papi: On the subject of Iraq movies: Actually Jarhead was awesome. Also check out Valley of Elah if youre into that sort of thing… Its dark and depressing but Tommy Lee Jones is just brilliant in it!!!

The first War Crimes trial started in Gitmo Bay this week. Who is on trial you ask? A murderer of thousands? A mastermind of the terrorist attacks? Nope. Its for a fucking driver! They are charging a driver that drove Osama around for War Crimes. Hamdan is no doubt not without some sort of guilt, but War Crimes? Poor guy was just at the wrong place at the wrong time.

This is further proof of how little the Americans know of the culture of that part of the world. Growing up in Pakistan, I had not one but two drivers, as well as a lot of “domestic help.” Every middle-class family does. Did our driver know everything about our family? No. Learning about your “enemy” if more than half the battle, and the American’s cant even get that right.
