RIP Benazir Bhutto

Benazir Bhutto was assassinated this week. Im just now getting over the shock. I still can’t believe they got her. In a sea of unworthy rulers that have led Pakistan over the years she remained one of the most polarizing and progressive figures, capable of leading Pakistan thru the turmoil on a path to progress.

I do not believe she was killed by Al Qaeda, as some people in the West are eager to blame. People that believe this nonsense do not know internal Pakistani politics. She and her party had enough internal enemies that any one of the many parties could have carried out this attack.

I have serious concerns about Pakistan’s future and it pains me to write this. This event has the ability to ignite a full on civil war that could in the end break up Pakistan into four sectarian nations. I hope that wont happen, but if we learnt anything from Yugoslavia is that the breakup of a nation can begin from a single event.
