End of the Formula One 2007 Season

October 22nd, 2007

“We never gave up on title.”

- Kimi Raikkonen, 2007 Formula 1 Champion.

What a weekend it was for Formula One fans. The drama of the weekend and indeed the race is what fans of the sport only dream about, as it doesn’t happen often. We went into the weekend three potential drivers having a real shot at the championship. But they way I saw it, Lewis was pretty much a shoe-in to win the title. It was really up to him to lose it the Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen to win it.

And lose it Hamilton did.

Boy did Hamilton buckle under the pressure this weekend. This is probably why rookies dont become world champions in their first season: it isnt easy. Hamilton just did not have to do the crazy overtaking maneuver that he tried to pull in the first lap over Alonso. He just had to cruise and finish in the top 5 and he would have been world champion. Instead, he showed his age and went guns blazing and drove a truly horrible race. Im sure this is a race he wasts to forget. One thing is clear though: this kid will be world champion one day. He can and will only get better as the years go on. I just hope he can be more of a team player and learn to get along with his team mate next year, be it Alonso or someone else.

Lets not take anything away from Kimi. In the end, he won more races than Hamilton and Alonso, and thats why he’s champion. He stuck in there and even after everyone had ruled him out (myself included) he snuck in there and came out the winner. In the end, I think Ferrari were vindicated, winning both the Constructors and Drivers Championships. Im glad that neither Alonso nor Hamilton won because they both behaved like babies this year. Hamilton more than Alonso. Im glad for Alonso that Hamilton didnt win. Its perhaps poetic justice for McLaren for favouring Hamilton all year long. This might force them to perhaps put their money where their mouths are: to treat their drivers equally.

It’s nice to know that I was right and I was wrong in my Formula One 2007 Season Preview. I was right about Kimi Raikonnen and Massa. I was wrong about McLaren and their reliability. Seems like they did their homework this year and had a great season as far as reliability is concerned. Although some would say the reliability was due to the ’spygate’ scandal and the secrets they stole from Ferrari.

This has been one of the more eventful and entertaining seasons of Formula One in all the years I have been following the sport. Im so glad that a certain Michael Schumacher is no longer racing, as without him the sport is so much more enjoyable!

The Israel-Palestinian death exchange rate has gone up from 100:1 to 300:1. If ou still think that both parties are equally at fault than there is something seriously wrong with your morals and logic. I hope, with this ground offensive into Gaza, Israel gets the shit kicked out of them. Good riddance to these killers!

Israel’s so-called ‘Right to defend itself’ is nothing but a smoke screen for its true agenda: genocide against the Palestinian population and expel them from the region. In the current conflict, Israel has taken the lives of over 700 Palestinians and up to 200 (roughly over 20 percent) of those are children. Home-made rockets from Hamas have killed 20 Israelis in eight years and approximately four Israelis have been killed during the current conflict. Israel continues to be the Terrorist State that no one in the world seems to recognize it for. Read this must-read article from Robert Fisk and learn the truth.

Hitler did bad and terrible things to the Jews. But why should the Palestinian population suffer for Hitler’s crimes?!!!

Israel enters Gaza. This will end badly, and more people will needlessly die on both sides. Israel can not win this fight militarily. As long as both parties think they can ‘win’ this will keep going on and on and on… Israel needs to be reminded about what happened in 2006 with Hezbullah. With its actions, its merely legitimizing and further making Hamas more powerful as it has more support amongst the people now. What will happen is that Israel will end up being humiliated again but will of course grab steal more land. Hamas will suffer losses for sure, but will ultimately emerge more powerful. In the end, its the innocent people that will lose.

JPG Mag is no more. Lesson here? Don’t piss of your passionate users that are your core base. Like thousands, I stopped using JPGMag after they kicked out its founders Heather and Derek in political in-fighting within the company. I feel bad for Heather and Derek and but this was inevitable.

A classic Bugatti Type 57 was found in a doctor’s garage after he died, which gathered dust in a Tyneside garage for almost 50 years, may fetch up to £3m ($4.35m) when it goes under the hammer. The only thing I find in my garage is dirty old underwear.

Israel and Gaza - In pictures. Regarding Image 3 - I was surprised to learn that these rockets are ‘home made.’ Now if these folks only put their scientific knowledge and efforts into making rockets that went to the moon rather than aimed at people, the world would be a better place.
