Nooooooooooo! Henry leaves Arsenal

June 23rd, 2007

Oh what a sad sad day… How am I to go on???!!! From Arsenal.com:

“Arsenal Football Club can confirm that it has reached an agreement with Barcelona for the transfer of Thierry Henry.

I don’t blame Henry though. At 29, he is at the twilight of his career and I fear that his best football is behind him - so this might be the perfect time for him to leave. I feel his decision is based on the uncertainty of Arsene Wenger, who also might leave Arsenal soon. Plus he would like to win a Champions League trophy before he quits football - which is understandable. I for one fully understand his decision… But if Wenger also leaves, I fear my beloved Gunners are in for a very rough few seasons ahead - as I can not imagine life without Henry or Wenger.

Arsenal needs to get their act together now and focus on the young players like Fabergas, Reyes and perhaps bring in Samuel Etu or another striker to fill in the huge void thats been caused by Henry’s departure.

As a life-long Arsenal fan, its gonna be a tough few years ahead for us… We never really recovered from Patrick Vieira’s departure and now I fear that Henry’s departure might be too much to bare.

[Update] Here’s Henry’s Open Letter to the fans. “This is one of the toughest pieces I will ever write… ”
[Update] Henry talks about leaving the club on Arsenal’s website.

    Actually have more to say.

Firstly why did he go for so little? (ok £16 million isn’t that little in the real world, but this is football). Henry is by far one of the worlds top strikers, so i’m confused as to why he has gone for such a bargain.

I agree with you that some serious changes need to be made at Arsenal. We cannot let anyone else leave now, especially after seeing how the youngsters really matured this season. Wenger also has to be given what he wants, CASH!

I never thought Henry was captain material, Viera owned that role and Gilberto actually did a damn good job of it i thought, he was commanding and also held us together.

Our main problem is that we just don’t have enough players to cover the usual mid-season injuries/international games and other hiccups which happen. Time and time again we see Arsenal struggle mid-season when most of the 1st team players are out for some reason.

I don’t think it’s all doom and gloom, but dammit it’s looking sad at the moment. I agree with Henry, I cannot see Arsenal winning the Champions League trophy just yet, maybe soon, but not now.

I will miss watching him live, he was a pure joy to watch at Highbury and I know that Emma will miss watching him at The Emirates.

ps.. I’m back in October, you around, fancy going to a match?

The Israel-Palestinian death exchange rate has gone up from 100:1 to 300:1. If ou still think that both parties are equally at fault than there is something seriously wrong with your morals and logic. I hope, with this ground offensive into Gaza, Israel gets the shit kicked out of them. Good riddance to these killers!

Israel’s so-called ‘Right to defend itself’ is nothing but a smoke screen for its true agenda: genocide against the Palestinian population and expel them from the region. In the current conflict, Israel has taken the lives of over 700 Palestinians and up to 200 (roughly over 20 percent) of those are children. Home-made rockets from Hamas have killed 20 Israelis in eight years and approximately four Israelis have been killed during the current conflict. Israel continues to be the Terrorist State that no one in the world seems to recognize it for. Read this must-read article from Robert Fisk and learn the truth.

Hitler did bad and terrible things to the Jews. But why should the Palestinian population suffer for Hitler’s crimes?!!!

Israel enters Gaza. This will end badly, and more people will needlessly die on both sides. Israel can not win this fight militarily. As long as both parties think they can ‘win’ this will keep going on and on and on… Israel needs to be reminded about what happened in 2006 with Hezbullah. With its actions, its merely legitimizing and further making Hamas more powerful as it has more support amongst the people now. What will happen is that Israel will end up being humiliated again but will of course grab steal more land. Hamas will suffer losses for sure, but will ultimately emerge more powerful. In the end, its the innocent people that will lose.

JPG Mag is no more. Lesson here? Don’t piss of your passionate users that are your core base. Like thousands, I stopped using JPGMag after they kicked out its founders Heather and Derek in political in-fighting within the company. I feel bad for Heather and Derek and but this was inevitable.

A classic Bugatti Type 57 was found in a doctor’s garage after he died, which gathered dust in a Tyneside garage for almost 50 years, may fetch up to £3m ($4.35m) when it goes under the hammer. The only thing I find in my garage is dirty old underwear.

Israel and Gaza - In pictures. Regarding Image 3 - I was surprised to learn that these rockets are ‘home made.’ Now if these folks only put their scientific knowledge and efforts into making rockets that went to the moon rather than aimed at people, the world would be a better place.
