Travel Minus Laptop

September 5th, 2006

This weekend was the very first time in… well, every since I can remember that I traveled out of town without my laptop or Internet connectivity of any kind. And it wasnt easy. Before leaving the flat for my train from London to Manchester on Friday night, I picked up my laptop twice and had to force myself not to take it with me. Like I have previously blogged about, running friskyRadio takes a lot out of me. That has never been more obvious than in the past few weeks where Ive been irritable and pretty much unmotivated to do anything friskyRadio-related. Im just burnt out.

I was away for three days and I was pleasantly surprised that I didnt miss email or friskyRadio at all. I did, however, come back to over 300 emails in my in-box, which I will take this week to return. I also had to cancel all shows on Monday as I decided to stay one extra day there. Its a really weird feeling when youre so addicted to email that you check your email every hour or so, then suddenly going three days without it!!! But it was awesome.

p.s. I was away from all TV and Radio this weekend, which is just as well, because Ive had it with one 9/11 tribute after another. Yes, the attacks were horrible and they were sickening. But so are countless other attrocities commited against innocent people all over the world each and every day. 9/11 happened 5 years ago. We dont need to be reminded every freaking year. Get over it.

Ok if you only wanna see one 9/11-related news item you must see the one below:

Putin accuses Bush of provoking the Georgia conflict to help McCain. Although I dont agree with it Putin, its not without merit. Remember, the Republicans have nothing other than war and national security to run on, so they will scary the American people and make wars out of nothing, just to get the people to vote for them. Thats why they won in 2004. And I can bet you come late October or so, Im sure there will be a “credible terrorist threat” or something of the like that hits America. All they know is to scare people.

The latest release from friskyRecords comes straight in at Number 1 in the ProgressiveHouse.com charts! Straight in at Number One baby! I feel especially good about this one because this was the first release on friskyRecords that I picked up, rather than commissioning DJs to make us a track for release. This track was 100% my choice that I heard and immedaitely knew I wanted to sign on friskyRecords. This proves that no matter what I should trust my gut. Thats what Ive always done with friskyRadio, and now its time to do the same with friskyRecords.
