Geek Cartoon of the Week

September 27th, 2006

[UPDATE] Several people did’nt seem to get the cartoon above. I guess its more of a nerd cartoon than a geeky one.
Basically in UNIX, prefixing ‘sudo‘ before any commands gives you a root/super user powers and you pretty much have the power to do anything or make the host do anything. […]

And the latest threat to airline security is…. gay people? An American Airlines flight crew threatened to divert the trans-Atlantic flight if a gay couple would not stop cuddling.
Hearing voices in your head? Seems like youre not alone, as up to 4% percent of the population does as well!

Why I Love Banksy

September 19th, 2006

Banksy is quite possibly one of my favourite artists. Because he’s a genius. You will too, after you check out pics of his latest work, showcased this weekend in his Los Angeles show “Barely Legal.” I wish I could have gone, because I would have loved to try and buy one of […]

Google Revealed: The IT Strategy That Makes It Work. A revealing article about what makes Google the kick-ass Geek-Machine that it is. They pretty much write their own tools for internal use, subscribing to my personal motto: “If you want something done right, do it yourself.”
Some of the things I was surprised to […]

September 5th, 2006

This weekend was the very first time in… well, every since I can remember that I traveled out of town without my laptop or Internet connectivity of any kind. And it wasnt easy. Before leaving the flat for my train from London to Manchester on Friday night, I picked up my laptop twice […]

An Israeli army officer who fired the entire magazine of his automatic rifle into a 13-year-old Palestinian girl and then said he would have done the same even if she had been three years old was acquitted on all charges by a military court yesterday.

What would make the Israeli Terrorist say such a thing? Because they are not human but are the scum of the Earth.

If you want to know what a joke and utter piece of shit Sarah Palin really is, you need to read Vanity Fair’s devastating profile of the woman. An amazing insight into the mind of Palin.

Once, while Sarah was preparing for a city-council meeting, she said, ‘I’m gonna put on one of my push-up bras so I can get what I want tonight.’ That’s how she rolls.”

Gmail is rolling out “Priority Inbox” a Facebook-like feature that predicts what emails are most important to you.

As messages come in, Gmail automatically flags some of them as important. Gmail uses a variety of signals to predict which messages are important, including the people you email most (if you email Bob a lot, a message from Bob is probably important) and which messages you open and reply to (these are likely more important than the ones you skip over).

I dont like Facebook telling me who my friends are, and Im not sure I like Gmail telling me what email is more important. I will just have to see how it works once I start seeing the Priority Inbox feature on my Gmail account.

As everyone knows, Im a bit of a wine snob. Here’s an excellent list of tips on how to order wine in a restaurant. This is true Ive seen some wine snobs do this and it makes me sick:

Save the slurping and gargling for Napa Valley tasting rooms and morning mouthwash. Try not to turn the stomachs of your guests with primitive rituals.
