Im already tired of friskyGeek.com v6.666. Concept and work on the Fabulous friskyGeek.com v7 has begun. Don’t expect anything soon… Although one thing is clear now after some careful analysis over thhe weekend: I’ve had it with MT. It looks like v7 will be powered by Wordpress. I just need to do a little more analysis of the WP code and make sure its safe to use. I also looked at Symphony21 but its too early to use at the moment. They had me at XSLT. Maybe when they get their act together I will port over to them.

Some of you that have been with me for a while know that Ive been a major suporter of MT. But wordpress has just released version 2.0.2 thats leaps and bounds better than the one I saw earlier. Its also web standards compliant and actually uses CSS to control the layout, at least better than MT does. And MT is way too complicated. One shouldnt have to have a pHd to use software. Software should be simple to use. Plus WP is Open Source.

One of my major concerns was how to port over all the people that may have bookmarked some old posts on friskyGeek. The RSS feed on MT is located at /indedx.xml while on WP its index.php?feed=rss2. I will simply fix this problem by Apache mod_rewrites and adding aliases and forward all requests to the new Urls. So that problem is solved.

MT, you have served me well over the last 6+ years but its time to move on… Its not you, its… no wait… it *is* you. You… SUCK!
