Being Back. . .

December 22nd, 2005

Been sort of out of the loop the last couple of days… The internet is shady so Ive been putting off writing something about the first fews being back in Pakistan…

Im still jet lagged - sleeping when most people here are awake, and awake when most people are asleep. When I am awake, I feel Im in a sort of a Bizzaro World, where everything is very familiar, yet, quite weird and almost foreign. I mean, almost nothing is as I left it - Karachi has changed quite a lot, and not everything for the better. Its weird, you go to these places that you used to go to all the time when you were young, but they look completely different now. There are a couple of things I cant get over: [Disclaimer: only Karachites will know what I’m talking about here…]
1. Fly-overs. Everywhere. I mean EVERYWHERE.
2. Dirt. More of it.
3. Shops and malls (yes, malls). More of them. A LOT more. EVERYWHERE.
4. Zamzama. What used to be a nice, small little empty street is now a major thru-way and shopping district. I just cant get over it!!!
5. The Agha’s ’roundabout’… well, its not a roundabout anymore!!! So weird.
6. People. More of them. Everywhere!!!
7. Billboards. Huge ones. Everywhere.
8. Seaview. Its HUGE and its completely different, and I must say that this is the best improvement of all.
9. McDonald’s is everywhere. No really, you think your city has a lot of them? Try one on almost every corner here in Karachi! I mean, youre greated with one as soon as you walk out of the airport.

Some things dont change:
1. Dirty, fucked up roads.
2. Open manholes on every road.
3. Did I mention the dirt?
4. Driving is a health and sanity hazard, where you literally have to watch out for UFOs and all sorts of shit from every fuckin’ direction.

I’ve taken a few pictures but my Camera Raw plug-in for photoshop is fucked, so I can’t open any of the shots that Ive taken. The replacement plug-in I downloaded from the Adobe web site only works on CS2, a cheeky way for Adobe to get us to buy the latest copy! Bastids! OK then, Im going to oblige and run down to the local computer software store and buy a copy of PhotoShop CS2… for $1. Can you do that in America? I think not, bitches!

you forgot the following social explosions:
    1) tranvestites galore
    2) gay marriages (yes. in pakistan - we call it “enlightened moderation”)
    3) coffee bars
    4) kamikazi motorcycle drivers
    5) more pollution
    6) more beggars
    7) and even more burning garbage heaps

Putin accuses Bush of provoking the Georgia conflict to help McCain. Although I dont agree with it Putin, its not without merit. Remember, the Republicans have nothing other than war and national security to run on, so they will scary the American people and make wars out of nothing, just to get the people to vote for them. Thats why they won in 2004. And I can bet you come late October or so, Im sure there will be a “credible terrorist threat” or something of the like that hits America. All they know is to scare people.

The latest release from friskyRecords comes straight in at Number 1 in the ProgressiveHouse.com charts! Straight in at Number One baby! I feel especially good about this one because this was the first release on friskyRecords that I picked up, rather than commissioning DJs to make us a track for release. This track was 100% my choice that I heard and immedaitely knew I wanted to sign on friskyRecords. This proves that no matter what I should trust my gut. Thats what Ive always done with friskyRadio, and now its time to do the same with friskyRecords.

So Barack picked Joe Biden as his VP. Its nice to know that Obama listened to me when I spoke about Joe Biden way back in July 2007. I couldnt agree more with this pick, Barack. Its also nice to know that when I talk about politics, Im not merely speaking bullshit - I actually know what Im talking about. Like when I called out in 2002 that Saddam didnt have any WMD at all, but the reason why he would never admit to it was that in the Arab culture, admitting defeat is like saying youre not a man. So Saddam would rather let the world think he had WMD by merely remaining silent… I was right about that too.
