Formula One

April 23rd, 2005

So Formula One is back in Europe this weekend… Who would have thought that that Renault would be in first place and Toyota (TOYOTA!!!) in second place after three races! Those arrogant pricks at Ferrari must be wondering what hit them. Such is the arrogance of this team in red that they started the season with their old car - and were too slow to react when things didnt go their ways in the fist three races. The new rules sure leveled the playing field and now they are being shown some good competition!

I’m really happy for Alonso. I truely think he’s a future world champion. I bet he’s a future Ferrari driver - as they will surely like to shower him with money and bring him over - but I hope he stays at Renault and wins a few titles for the French team! After the utter disappointment of last season - where I didnt even bother watching many races because I knew that Ferrari would win (not due to their driving mind you, but by their team strategies), this season is turning out to be a close and very exciting one!

Guy films a Space Shuttle launch from his plane. You have to watch this. Note to people that might record something that they would wanna share later: Just shut the fuck up and film… No one cares about your commentary or if you think its “sooooo coool.” Just shut up!

Pandora says that it would rather shut its doors rather than bow down to the RIAA and pay royalties. I say good for them. However, I never quite got all the hoopla about Pandora. Ive used Pandora probably about 2 times ever since it went live 6+ years ago. If I wanted to have my own radio station I would have started one myself. Oh that’s right! I did.

By now Im sure you all know about the .10 second victory that Phelps had over Serbian swimmer Cavic last night in Beijing. Click here to see a frame by frame view of how he did it. I didnt watch it of course because Im boycotting the Olympics - but I wish I had seen this swim live.

Whats amazing is how well the Silver medalist is taking it. I have to admit if this was me, I would have been devastated, having lost the gold medal by such a narrow margin. He wrote in his blog today:

“Success!! I did it!!! I won an Olympic medal everybody! On winning a SILVER medal: I am completely happy, and still in complete disbelief that I was able to achieve this feat! I’m not joking… It’s a tough loss, but I’m on cloud nine. I congratulated Phelps and his coach Bob Bowman. I’m just glad the race was fun to watch for everyone. It was a pleasure for me, really.”

Thats how one becomes a champion - being gracious in defeat.

As much as I would like to admit it, this really wasnt me that bought a £400 million home. Im still holding out for one thats at least £800 million. Pfft! Even my dogs are not worthy of a mere £400 million home.
