April’s Foooooooools

April 1st, 2005

Its April 01 today. All over the world people are getting punked. Ive done something or another in all of my web sites or email ever since I can remember. A couple of years ago I sent a mass email to all my friends telling them that I went to Vegas and got married. A couple of people actually believed me as I do shit like that (not get married, but spontenous shit…) Last year, I decided to change the format of friskyRadio to “classical/country/rap and dance.” Couple of people actually sent me HATE MAILS!! Some people just didnt get it when they tuned into the stream and all they heard was Beethoven’s symphony Number 10 followed by 50 Cent followed by Tim McGrath! Hah! That was a classic.

This year though - I decided to not do anything. I decided to skip all the crazy stuff all together, for a couple of reasons. The main reason being that I lieterally forgot! Ive been so busy with work, the radio, the new web site, the photoBlog, playing with my new PSP, keeping the DJs happy, adding new content to the friskyRadio stream, attending all-day Development-Ops summits (boooooring), working on SHOUTcast.com version 2.0 (in my spare time), working on a DHTML project, working on setting up a MODS2 Fire Hose on-demand streaming server as a project for work … yes, this was all this week!!! And people get mad at me when I dont return their calls or emails. Guys, Im literally doing the work that 4 Faisals should be doing. Im burnt out! This is one of the reasons I decided to play the Get Frisky WMC2005 party in a loop throughout the weekend - so that I can let it play and forget about setting the playlist for the weekend. And I still need to do my taxes for this year - as the deadline is April 15.

On a sidenote, Google’s April Fool’s joke was fucking LAME. Guys, get over it, youre not cool anymore.

p.s.

So when are you going to reach your breaking point? You know…go out and pop a cap in someones ass. It happens to the best of them. I can see it in the headlines now: “Streaming radio wizard programmer snaps, buys a gun, and goes on a shooting rampage”

    :-)

HAHA! Soo true! I have already blown up and lost my cool on several occasions… It doesnt take much to get me rattled up lately. It also has to do with the fact that I havent worked out in a week!!! I need to get myself to a gym now… In fact… fuck it. Im going to the gym NOW!

Watch the trailer for JJ Abrams’ new TV show Revolution. Looks good but then so did Alcatraz, which turned out to be a dud. Lets hope this lives up to the hype.

Excellent read by Henry Bloget in the New Yorker about how Mark has matured into a kick ass CEO. I couldnt agree more.

RIP so-called Social Readers. The Facebook Social Reader is the worst piece of crap ever. You click on an article your friend supposedly read and instead of taking you to the story, it takes you to an app. Thats when I closed the app and never went to the story. I wasnt the only one.

Fascinating story of American Airlines’ AAirPass - an all-you-can-fly elite program that you can purchase for $350,000. Considering how much you can travel (unlimited, first class), I think $350K is a great deal if you have the money. And time I guess.

The San Pelligrino 50 Best Restaurants in the World list is better than the Michelin list, and their 2012 ratings are right on. Per Se at 6 and not surprisingly Eleven Madison Park jumps from 24 to 10! It is that good. I expect it to be in the Top 5 next year for sure. Another one to watch out for next year: Atera in New York.

Couldnt agree with this more… Apple should buy Foursquare and Square:

To summarize: after the deal, Apple will immediately become a giant payments company, with an installation base that is expected to encompass half of all mobile devices sold. The company will have the best local search abilities, far exceeding any existing recommendation engine. And due to its enormous reach, it will possess a payment system that merchants will line up to support.

Perfectly boring still life objects made incredibly NSFW. Quite awesome how at first you see the shots, you dont see anything but erotica. But then when you realise what it is, you have to try and see anything but the every-day object.
