Seen a couple of new

December 24th, 2003

Seen a couple of new movies lately:
The Last Samurai: Excellent! Amazing movie. Tom Cruise is right on in this one. However, one can not get away from the fact that its not “Tom Cruise” on the screen, but Nathan Algren, the deeply disturbed, fallen US civil war hero that changes so drastically once hes introduced to the ways of the Samurai. I thought the character development was a bit lacking, and thats why I dont think Tom Cruise will get an Oscar for this one. But that doesnt take away from the fact that this movie is a masterpiece and totally engrossing. I was mesmerized… 5 friskyStars!
21 Grams. Like Amores Peros, definately not a date movie and definately not for the faint at heart. The writer-director is a genius on how he shows that a seemingly unrelated object/event/person is the link to the other characters in the film. In Amores Perros it was dogs, here it is a horrible accident. If this is not nominated for Best Picture and if Sean Penn and Naomi Watts are not nominated for Oscars I will be very surprised. 4 friskyStars!
The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. So its finally over. I saw this movie in New York in a “fake” IMAX screen. Fake because even though it was shown on an IMAX screen, it didnt fill the entire screen and that took away from the whole IMAX experience. Nevertheless, I thought the second movie was better of the three, and especially the ending of this one seemed to drag on and on and on… 3 friskyStars.

Putin accuses Bush of provoking the Georgia conflict to help McCain. Although I dont agree with it Putin, its not without merit. Remember, the Republicans have nothing other than war and national security to run on, so they will scary the American people and make wars out of nothing, just to get the people to vote for them. Thats why they won in 2004. And I can bet you come late October or so, Im sure there will be a “credible terrorist threat” or something of the like that hits America. All they know is to scare people.

The latest release from friskyRecords comes straight in at Number 1 in the ProgressiveHouse.com charts! Straight in at Number One baby! I feel especially good about this one because this was the first release on friskyRecords that I picked up, rather than commissioning DJs to make us a track for release. This track was 100% my choice that I heard and immedaitely knew I wanted to sign on friskyRecords. This proves that no matter what I should trust my gut. Thats what Ive always done with friskyRadio, and now its time to do the same with friskyRecords.
