October 26th, 2003

FareWell to the Concorde: The Concorde was a huge human achievement indeed. I remember back in London I used to go to Heathrow from time to time to watch the Concorde arrive and depart from the Queen’s Building with a huge roar. Once I even got into the cabin of one while it […]

Runaway Jury: As a huge John Grisham fan, I always thought that Runaway Jury was his best work. It kept me literally on the edge when I read it long into the nights… So I was especially excited when I heard they’d be making this into a movie. Whats more, I was even more excited […]

October 22nd, 2003

iTunes has got to be the coolest thing to come out for legal music downloading on the Internet. And now its available for Windows. I just downloaded it to use to sync my iPod with. And it kicks ass. I have already bought a few 99c tracks… so easy. Weird that AOL can not make […]

Esquire asks whether Chris Nolan (director of Batman Begins and Dark Knight) the greatest director alive? Well, they just figured that out? I’ve loved Nolan’s work since 2000 - after watching the brilliantly amazing and awesomely original Memento. You need to watch it if you havent already.

The first War Crimes trial started in Gitmo Bay this week. Who is on trial you ask? A murderer of thousands? A mastermind of the terrorist attacks? Nope. Its for a fucking driver! They are charging a driver that drove Osama around for War Crimes. Hamdan is no doubt not without some sort of guilt, but War Crimes? Poor guy was just at the wrong place at the wrong time.

This is further proof of how little the Americans know of the culture of that part of the world. Growing up in Pakistan, I had not one but two drivers, as well as a lot of “domestic help.” Every middle-class family does. Did our driver know everything about our family? No. Learning about your “enemy” if more than half the battle, and the American’s cant even get that right.

Obama’s plan for Iraq, in his own words in the New York Times. And in the ultimate diss to McCain, the New York Times rejected McCain’s request that he be able to respond to Obama on the New York Times.

The Presidential Memorial Commission was successful in their petition to add a measure to the San Francisco ballot in the November election to rename a sewage plant to “George W Bush Sewage Plant.” Ive said it before - California dances to its own beat and San Francisco is literally the best city in the world. Period.
